With just one month to go until the opening weekend of the fourth edition of the Challenge Sanremo, the numbers once again underscore the event’s growth.
The international triathlon event scheduled for September 20-21, which this year will be headquartered in Portosole, is attracting an increasing number of athletes from across Europe, as well as the United States, Canada, Japan, Israel, Qatar, Chile and Ethiopia.
Compared to the same period last year, registrations for the Middle Distance Triathlon have increased by 37%. Overall registrations for the weekend’s races, which also include the Sprint Triathlon, Youth Races, and Swim & Run, are also up 22%.
Registrations will remain open until September 12th.
As previously announced, this year’s races will be held in one of the largest and most prestigious marinas in the Mediterranean. On Saturday, the program will open with the youth events, followed by this year’s new Swim & Run, which will replace the Swimrun. On Sunday, the main event of the weekend, the Challenge Sanremo Middle Distance, and the Sprint Triathlon will take place.
The swim leg will take place in the Portosole area (the Middle Distance will feature a spectacular 1900-meter single lap, which in case of rough seas will be replaced by a multi-lap in a protected area; the Sprint will also feature a single lap). The cycling course is essentially the same from previous editions and includes the iconic Poggio di Sanremo, while the running leg will take place on the cycle/pedestrian path.
