Challenge Family and ROUVY are deeply moved by the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, where tens of thousands of people have lost their lives and many more have been injured or lost their homes and livelihoods. The people of these countries need help urgently and so ROUVY and Challenge Family have come together to organise a virtual charity ride. ROUVY will donate one euro for every athlete finishing the route and Challenge Family races are combining to donate a lump sum, together hoping to raise in excess of 35,000 euros. All money donated will go to the Czech Red Cross, which is supporting its Turkish and Syrian colleagues financially and is preparing material assistance in the form of medical supplies.
The charity ride is one 8.7 km lap through Prague, the home of ROUVY. All participants must complete the lap only once and have 11 days to do so as of today – 22 February. All details here: https://rouvy.com/challenges/support-turkey-syria
Petr Samek, CEO of ROUVY, says: “Türkiye and Syria were recently struck with an earthquake that has caused many to seek support during their recovery process. With the help of the entire virtual community of cyclists around the world, I’m confident that together we can do our part to show love and support for those affected. We hope that through our combined efforts, Turkiye and Syria will recover quickly and fully.”
Jort Vlam, CEO of Challenge Family, adds: “We are deeply touched by the terrible disaster in Türkiye and Syria. A disaster that has taken and disrupted so many lives, families and households. Fully aware that we cannot change anything about the suffering at this moment, we still want to do what we can to help all those people in need. We hope we can count on your support: please join us, so that together we can raise as much money as possible to help rebuild Türkiye and Syria and offer support. Together we stand strong.”
