On Sunday, September 21st, sport, culture, and tradition will enliven the streets of the Argentina Valley. This year, Challenge Sanremo, an international triathlon event, and the Badalucco “Stockfish Festival” will take place on the same day.
The cycling route of the middle distance race, which brings together professional and amateur athletes from five continents, will run along provincial road SP 548 from Taggia to Badalucco, up to the turnoff for Vignai. Vehicle traffic will be closed from 9:15 to 10:15.
During this time slot, only shuttle buses organized by the Municipality and by Pro Loco of Badalucco will be allowed to pass. Once traffic reopens, all vehicles will be allowed to pass, provided they are careful and respectful of the competing athletes.
“Thanks to its close collaboration with local authorities, the Challenge Sanremo has succeeded, over the years, in networking with local communities and establishing dialogue with law enforcement agencies, which is crucial for traffic management – says Daniele Moraglia, head of the organizing committee – We know the Badalucco event is highly anticipated and well attended, and at the same time, we want to ensure the smooth running of the international triathlon in complete safety, as the safety of the athletes is a key aspect of our organization and of all the races in the international Challenge Family circuit to which we belong. I thank Mayor Matteo Orengo and his administration for engaging in constructive dialogue, with the aim of ensuring our events are a success. Furthermore, I ask all those who will be traveling through the Argentina Valley with their own vehicles to pay maximum attention to the athletes competing, in the spirit of mutual respect and coexistence on the road, and to follow the instructions of traffic management personnel.”
In this spirit, triathletes from around the world will be able to enjoy the challenging race and take home a pleasant memory of the Province of Imperia. Fans of the popular festival hosted by the Ligurian village will be able to celebrate and taste the “Stocafissu a Baücogna” at the event that has been intertwining tradition, flavors, and history for over 50 years.
